song lyrics

Hey jude, don't make it bad.
Take a sad song and make it better.
Remember to let her into your heart,
Then you can start to make it better.

Hey jude, don't be afraid.
You were made to go out and get her.
The minute you let her under your skin,
Then you begin to make it better.

And anytime you feel the pain, hey jude, refrain,
Don't carry the world upon your shoulders.
For well you know that it's a fool who plays it cool
By making his world a little colder.

Hey jude, don't let me down.
You have found her, now go and get her.
Remember to let her into your heart,
Then you can start to make it better.

So let it out and let it in, hey jude, begin,
Youre waiting for someone to perform with.
And don't you know that it's just you, hey jude, you'll do,
The movement you need is on your shoulder.

Hey jude, don't make it bad.
Take a sad song and make it better.
Remember to let her under your skin,
Then you'll begin to make it
Better better better better better better, oh.

Na na na na na ,na na na, hey jude...

BEN E. KING - STAND BY ME LYRICS When the night has come and the land is darkAnd the moon is the only light we seeNo, I won't be afraid, oh, I won't be afraidJust as long as you stand, stand by me
So darling, darling, stand by me, oh, stand by meOh, stand, stand by me, stand by me
If the sky that we look upon should tumble and fallOr the mountain should crumble to the seaI won't cry, I won't cry, no, I won't shed a tearJust as long as you stand, stand by me
And darling, darling, stand by meDarling, darling, stand by meWhenever you're in troubleWon't you stand by me, oh, stand by me

THE ROLLING STONES LYRICS

"(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction"

I can't get no satisfaction
I can't get no satisfaction
'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no
When I'm drivin' in my car
And that man comes on the radio
And he's tellin' me more and more
About some useless information
Supposed to fire my imagination
I can't get no, oh no no no
Hey hey hey, that's what I say
I can't get no satisfaction
I can't get no satisfaction
'Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no
When I'm watchin' my TV
And that man comes on to tell me
How white my shirts can be
But he can't be a man 'cause he doesn't smoke
The same cigarrettes as me
I can't get no, oh no no no
Hey hey hey, that's what I say
I can't get no satisfaction
I can't get no girl reaction
Cause I try and I try and I try and I try
I can't get no, I can't get no
When I'm ridin' round the world
And I'm doin' this and I'm signing that
And I'm tryin' to make some girl
Who tells me baby better come back later next week
Cause you see I'm on losing streak
I can't get no, oh no no no
Hey hey hey, that's what I say
I can't get no, I can't get no
I can't get no satisfaction
No satisfaction, no satisfaction, no satisfaction

Poem 1

Rosa Parks sat in the front of the bus
showing she had the right to do what she wanted.
Blacks and whites all around
so why did blacks have unequal rights?
White was just a color,
what made them superior?
Both races have legs
Both races have arms
Both races were unique
so why SEGREGATION?
It is just simply evil!
African Americans were punished for being a diffrent color
they were hosed
cigaretts were burnt on them
they did nothing but put up with this racism,
hoping it will end soon
all they wanted was to be equal
was it that hard to make it happen.

poem 2

Its time for a change
what happened to the world
when was it OK for children to be hosed?
All the racism in the world has got to end
starting with Marin Luther King Jr.
he has set the path everyone
should follow
kids dying, parents suffering
Emmett Till loosing his life
the reason was there was no reason
getting brutally abused
getting hit till there was pure bone
what two people can think it was OK?
please help so we could make
tomorrow a better day

Beach Boys God Only Knows Lyrics

Songwriters: WILSON, BRIAN DOUGLAS / ASHER, TONY
I may not always love you
But long as there are stars above you
You never need to doubt it
Ill make you so sure about it

God only knows what I'd be without you

If you should ever leave me
Though life would still go on believe me
The world could show nothing to me
So what good would living do me

God only knows what I'd be without you

God only knows what I'd be without you

If you should ever leave me
Well life would still go on believe me
The world could show nothing to me
So what good would living do me

God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows
God only knows what I'd be without you

poem 5

Going on strike
to have all the same rights
acting powerful and passionate
but feeling week and dull
Standing up for all the right things
but feeling as your the bad guy
we can know say
the civil rights movement has changes
us to this day
I thank all the people who stood up
for their rights
because if it wasn't for them
we wouldnt be this happy today
there are bigger problems we need to face
helping each other will go
a long way

poem 3

Brown vs. The board of education
1953 was an important time in history
everyone should have the right to attend
any school they wanted
why was there segregated schools?
No one knows
people just went with the flow
until there was a court case
people learned to stand up for their rights
standing together as  one is unrealistic
there will always be those people
who are very judgemental
if it weren't for the ones who stood up to the board
our world would not be the same
today proving the others it was OK
to stand together

poem 4

Sitting at the bar waiting for your meal
having two white men walking in
forcing to move you
you stick to your word NO
they threaten to kill
ignoring will only work for so long
until you feel them beating on your pride
once it becomes a physical fight you
back off because you know they have more rights
what makes them so special?
last time i checked they were just humans as we all were
i pray the world changes
wanting my kids to have the better opportunity
i shall fight for my rights
until the day i die

The W's

Who: Richard Nixon was the main man involved in the Watergate scandal. He was the 37th President of the United States and the only President to resign from office. He let down many of the American people with the way he lied and how the whole scandal came about.

What: The Watergate Scandal was the break in at the Democratic National Committee in which Nixon was involved and then he had his administration try to cover him up. There was evidence through phone recordings, saying directly that Nixon was involved and there was no way to cover it up. Nixon was so embarrassed that he had to resign from office.

Where: The Watergate Scandal took place at the Democratic National Committee. It is responsible for all the decisions that the Democrats make and overview everything to make sure it runs smoother. They focus on the next upcoming campaign and that is why it was so bad that Nixon was spying on these meetings.

When: This event took place in the very early 1970s and late 1960s. This was an influential part of United States history and the fact that this scandal took place added more of the drama to the time period. This taught the people of the 1960s to be more careful and not to put all their trust into one man with all the power.

Why: The Watergate scandal happened because Nixon wanted to see what he would be up against in the upcoming election. He got caught because there were recordings of him saying that his committee needed to cover him and they got brought up out of the surface.  Nixon went too far in the election and got in trouble for it.

Essay

People learn lessons every day. In the 1960s many events took place that people who lived through them should have and did take a few very important lessons with them. With events like civil rights, Nixon's presidential election, and environmental movements, there were techniques and things that went well, but also some things that went wrong. After learning lessons through these events, America, American's, and American leaders turned out for the better and made history what it is today.

The civil rights movement was a very large, influential part of the 1960s. African-American, women, men without property, and other minorities did not always have full rights in the United States. Especially black Americans did not get treated the way, today, the Constitution demands. Americans did not realize that we were one country and need to sit together. Instead, they picked on the minorities and tore them down to a point where they felt like they didn't belong, nor deserve to live there. There were two main movements that led to white, privileged Americans learning that everyone was equal and there is no reason to treat people of your own country so poorly. The Montgomery bus boycott was a movement that was very influential in the black community and their freedom. For a black person to defy a white person was unheard of in the United States during this time. Standing up for what she knew was right, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus to the white person who wanted it. After this, Rosa Parks went to jail, and in response to this, the Black community boycotted all city buses because they did not agree with the policy. This made a statement, at which shortly after, Martin Luther King Jr. wrote and presented in a inspirational, moving, and convincing speech on how black Americans, along with other minorities, deserve and will receive the same rights as the rest of Americans. Americans responded well to all of this and eventually granted the minorities the freedoms they deserved. Americans learned through all of this that when America is united as one, they are unstoppable and stronger than ever.

Before Nixon was elected,  he made sure that the people knew he was on their side and it was his goal to make things better. Nixon did some great things as president, like ending the was in Vietnam and making the relationship with the U.S.S.R. and China much better, but there was also scandal and loss of trust in the Watergate scandal. The Watergate scandal came from a break-in at the office of Democratic National Committee during the 1972 campaign. There were tapes of Nixon talking to his re-elect committee telling them to spy and then there were also recordings of him trying to plan to get out of the scandal and make sure the people believed him. The people wanted to believe Nixon, and at first they did. When the people found out that Nixon had lied to them it made it very hard for them to ever believe him again. He was so embarrassed by the scandal and knew that he betrayed his people, so he decided to resign. The people learned that they really need to be careful where they place their trust in their leaders and how to pick the right one to watch over and protect their country. The American leaders learned that they cannot lie to the American people because it will never turn out in their favor. It is best to just be straight up with the people so that they can know what is going on and be a part of fixing it. It is not worth it to lie and get caught then lose the trust of all the American people.
During the 1960s, the people living in America did not know how bad they were hurting the environment. There was something that happened called the Love Canal that brought people to realize just how bad they were hurting the earth and how they wanted to put a stop to all the madness. There were toxins and substances in this “Love Canal” that eventually came back to haunt the people and that is what woke them up. There were sicknesses being spread constantly and people of all ages were getting them and they didn’t know why. Louis Gibbs was a mother determined to find out what was wrong and why everyone was getting sick and eventually she did. She made sure Congress knew about it and made sure all the families were safely moved to a better area. Rachel Carson wrote a book about how if we don’t start to save our environment now, we will have no more life on Earth. Congress passed both The Clean Water Act and The Clean Air Act to make sure the Earth stays like this for good and for a long time. This helped the people to learn that if they want a nice clean Earth, they will have to start with themselves and take action in keeping it clean.
Americans learned lessons that they could not live without, unless they wanted a dirty, unhealthy Earth. If we didn’t learn these lessons early in life, our Earth and history of our country would not be the same. We could still be in war. Our government could be corrupted. We could be living in a mess. But the lessons we learned helped prevent all of this.  Today’s world was benefitted by all the lessons learned in the 60s. The 1960s were crucial in what today’s history is and without it, nothing would be the same.

perspective 3

Living through president Johnson's presidency was a great honor. As a women you could imagine my days, i was always looked down upon, and was treated as if i knew nothing about politics. In fact i always got made fun of for knowing more about them than my husband did. Anyways his Great Society was a big change for many of us. Even though i was capable of voting, you would be surprised all the remarks you would get if you were a women trying to vote. I always tried to stay away from unnecessary trouble leading my decision to not voting. As a young women i also  remember seeing several men being drafted into the Vietnam war. It was a very hard time, since my husband and I became married at a young age he was nearly sent to the war, his flat feet were the only thing that saved him. Although a lot of men were drafted it was not president Johnson who brought us into the war, therefor many people started to understand it was not his fault completely. Over all Johnson did a great job during his presidency, he promoted many new plans and was a well rounded president.

Perspective 2

The Great Society was promoted by Democrats, there were two major goals that wanted to be addressed. the first problem they wanted to address was elimination of poverty, and radical injustices. As a fellow republican i did not agree nor support these beliefs that Johnson was trying to enforce. New major spending programs, education programs, and medicare programs were all trying to be solved during his presidency. Although Johnson was trying to win every classes vote, he was promoting things that were unrealistic. Many ignorant people voted for him because they knew he was democrat and supported poor and middle class people. This is when i realized that our president should not be represented by his party, but by his policies. President Johnson was also a very liberal president; many democrats were encouraged by his Great Society plans. Even though he was well respected by the democrats, many republicans started hating him more and more. i remember sitting at meeting with several republicans, and we all thought the more new programs he introduced the greater in debt we would be. Thus my reasoning for not agreeing with Johnson's Great Society policies.

Great Society Perspective 1

Many Americans do not know what it feels like to be in a true money crisis. One of the several reasons of why i supported Lyndon B. Johnson, was because he was one of the first presidents who struggled and experienced poverty. Not only did Johnson help the poor class, but he also taught students of Mexican descent. When i learned about this it made me love him more because i came to America for a better opportunity from Mexico. Johnson also served during WW11 in the navy as a lieutenant commander, winning a silver star in the South Pacific. Johnson was a hard worker and kept making his way up after becoming senate in 1953. Although many say Johnson was at the right spot at the right time, i believe it was a tragic but much needed change. After Kennedy's death it was a very sad time, the border closed for a couple hours. Several people were so disappointed by Kennedy's death, but i felt Johnson did a great job to reconstruct us as a country. As an old man i benefited from the Medicare Amendment. Johnson's Great Society plan helped every class and affected the next generations to come!

Introduction

The era between 1962-1975 was a series of many events leading up to many accomplishments that are important to our United States history today. Events include the Space Race, Civil Rights Movement, John F. Kennedy's assassination, Women's Rights, and the Vietnam War. Civil Rights was significant because it lead the freedom of African Americans, which made our country peaceful and free, as the United States should be. The space race was significant because the Soviet Union sent the first satelite to outer space. The U.S. felt they needed to beat them in something involving space, thus they sent man to the moon.tWomen's rights were very limited in this era and luckliy the women's rights movementt happened and things changed; the 19th amendmant passed and it gave the women the right to vote. In conclusion all these events have been significant to our world today. Some of these events were brutal and horrid but we stilll stand stong as a union.
